Bottom 5 Movies of 2018

While 2018 was an awesome year for movies, there were still plenty of disappointing films going around. Luckily, I did a great job avoiding bad movie this past year. I am too busy to waste hours on a movie I do not enjoy. So, I know there are much worse films of 2018 out there, these 5 are all films that I had high hopes for but, fell far short of expectations.

5. Skyscraper

Unlike most movies on this list, I had a pretty good feeling going in that this was not going to be a film masterpiece. The Rock saving a big building, got it. But the action scenes were surprisingly dull and too few. Add some bad acting and a weak plot, and we have the 5th entry on the list.

Rating : 2.5/5

4. Red Sparrow

Jennifer Laurence in a spy thriller, sold. The movie had an interesting plot and the acting was pretty good, however, it was just too drawn out and slow moving with no payoff for your patience. The letdown for the expectations and lack of excitement made this a forgettable film.

Rating : 2.5/5

3. Game Over, Man!

Game over, Man is not supposed to be a good movie. The crew from workaholics reunites in this wacky action comedy. The main issue however is there is not real action and the comedy is pretty non-existent. With no really redeeming qualities, I am just thankful I watched on Netflix vs renting.

Rating : 2/5

2. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was a movie that could have gone either way. I like Jurassic World enough and was defiantly excited for a sequel to future the story but remember what the 2 sequels were like for Jurassic Park. Unfortunately, that story was too slow, too strange, and the Characters too uninteresting. A very disappointing outing and a big letdown to those who loved the original.

Rating : 2/5

1. Hotel Artemis

Coming in at #1 is Hotel Artemis. I had such high hopes for this movie. The cast is out of this world, so many incredible actors and actresses that I was excited to see together. It had a very interesting, John Wick esq, concept. Those two things combined, had this film set up for major success.

However, this movie never got off the ground for me. The story was weak and the action was dull. I found myself struggling to stay engaged throughout. And while there were worse movies, none were a bigger let down than Hotel Artemis.
