Won't You Be My Neighbor
I knew nothing about Mr. Rogers. I did not watch his show growing up and I don’t think at 30, I have any plans to go back and binge-watch old episodes. So, it came as a complete shock to me that this unassuming biopic had such an impact on me. This movie about a man and his TV show for kids, somehow turned me into a sobbing baby. I still cannot believe it. I sat in bed, watching the end of this moving in streaming tears.
Won’t You Be my Neighbor is a powerful, emotional look at Fred Rogers aka Mr. Rogers and the show that make him such an important figure in American life. It is pretty remarkable to lean about a person who did so much, and helped out so many people, simply by being kind.
The simple acts of thoughtfulness and genuine caring displayed throughout the documentary carried such emotional weight that built throughout the film to an unexpected, tear jerking climax that leaves you hopeful, smiling, and inspired
So, you should see this movie if…
- You’re not sure your tear ducts are working and stapling your hand seems a bit extreme
- The Sunday Scaries are here and they must be defeated
OR
- You want to learn how powerful kindness truly is and how anyone can make a real difference
